USNS Zeus
Summary
When the U.S. Navy decided to rebuild the cable ship USNS ZEUS they wanted to ensure the coating on the ventilation system would last as long as the expected rebuilt life of the ship. Because of salt water corrosion occurring on the inside of the ventilation system, conventional coatings only offered a normal life of 6-8 years where as the rebuild life for the ship was 20-25 years.
Those in charge of the rebuild therefore chose ZINGA as their coating of choice as the expected life with 100µm DFT ZINGA would be 20-25 years.
The first coat of ZINGA was applied prior to forming since ZINGA could be plasma cut with no distortions, could be welded without causing weld porosity, and could be bent 180º with no release or destruction of coating.

Vessel - Copious
Summary
The motor vessel COPIOUS was grit-blasted, Zinganised and top coated in 2001.
The vessel struck a rock in July 2002 and came into the harbour with a 3 meter long scratch on the starboard gunwale. The scratch was bright silver (pure zinc) and the owners were very happy indeed to see no sign of rust anywhere, indicating that the Zinga coating had done its job.

Container Chassis
Summary
ZINGA was used to protect two 20m long container chassis that were purpose built to transport radioactive equipment. The application was done with airless spray, by “Hutchinson Technical Services”, based in Liverpool, North-West of England. The owner of the containers is a company called Reviss UK Ltd.
The grit blasting and application had to be done within a very short time frame. because of this, it was impossible to apply the ZINGALUFER with the mist coat & full coat technique, as recommended. Nevertheless, the final results were still very good.
After coating, they were transported to the harbour before being shipped to Russia or Argentina.
